A Piece of Europe

 

Music written, and arranged by Malcolm Atkins and performed and enhanced by Oxford Improvisers; choreography by Ana Barbour

 

A comment on the EU accession state process (as part of the Evolving City events), this work. will feature scored and improvised work as well as references to anthems and tunes from new and recent accession states. Much of the structure of the work is derived from Bartok’s version of the Bluebeard myth – an archetypal accession story.  It will feature the phenomenal improvising talents of:

 

Clair Aldington (recorders), Chris Brown (guitar), Sarah Verney Caird (flute and voice), Miles Doubleday (synth and voice), Jill Elliott (violin), Bruno Guastalla (voice,cello and bandoneon), Alex Hawkins (keyboards), Chris Hills (tabla) , Pete McPhail (sax and flute), Paul Medley (clarinet), Chris Percival (guitar), Dave Stent (guitar), Chris Stubbs (percussion), Roger Telford (drums), Pat Thomas (piano), Dave Trussler (clarinet), Paul Whitty (electronics)

 

Plus the outstanding  motional interpretation of Café Reason dance group.
